WOAH’s ‘Partner Together to Tackle AMR’ Forum & Resources

March 26, 2026

This March, WVEA was invited to participate in the World Organisation for Animal Health’s  ‘Acting Now, Investing Smart: Partner Together to Tackle AMR’ forum.

The forum, organised by WOAH in collaboration with the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), took place in Paris on 24 March 2026, bringing together partners to accelerate action on antimicrobial resistance (AMR).

With AMR expected to cause 39 million deaths and up to US$1.7 trillion in annual livestock GDP losses by 2050, the forum focused on mobilising investment and aligning global efforts to curb its impact. It highlighted priority funding opportunities and promoted a One Health approach to drive long-term impact at global, regional, and subregional levels.

The forum showcased successful initiatives from WOAH, OECD and partners, while underlining the links between AMR and global priorities, including climate change, economic resilience, and pandemic preparedness. Both OECD and WOAH’s five-year AMR strategic visions were presented, including joint projects between the two organisations and partnership pathways.

Sustained and increased investment in these areas is essential in order to advance commitments under the United Nations Political Declaration on AMR by 2030 and to implement the updated Global Action Plan on antimicrobial resistance (2026–2030). By supporting WOAH’s World Fund, resource partners can help tackle the threat of AMR and deliver lasting improvements in animal health and welfare.
