WVEA’s Dr Emily Fyfe presents to the Wildlife and Exotics Student Association

March 25, 2026

A huge thank you to the Wildlife and Exotics Student Association (WESA) for inviting WVEA’s Programs Officer Dr Emily Fyfe to speak at this year’s BEAR Conference, bringing together 450 students from 22 countries across Europe.

On the event, Dr Fyfe said “ It was such a pleasure to spend time exploring sustainability and the protection of biodiversity together.”

“I’m incredibly grateful to the Association EcoVéto, VPB: Vétérinaires Pour la Biodiversité and the World Veterinary Environmental Alliance for the opportunity to be there. A beautiful example of organizations coming together to spread impact.”

“What stayed with me most was the energy in the room. It was inspiring to meet so many students and vets committed to practicing more sustainably and using our voice as veterinarians to protect animals, both in and beyond our care. Your curiosity, engagement, and plans for the future give me hope!”

“We need more of these discussions. Prioritizing sustainability, One Health, and biodiversity into veterinary curricula is essential if we want the next generation of veterinarians to be prepared for the world they will be working in.”

“Because healthy animals need a healthy planet.”

Education of the veterinary profession on climate science, systems understanding, the triple planetary crisis and its impacts on animal health and production is a priority focus at WVEA. We look forward to sharing our focus group’s education framework soon.
